Every Child A Reader, held in April, is one of our largest annual book-sharing events for children ages 3 to 5. During this event, local community members volunteer to read to children in their preschool classrooms. Every child is given the featured read-aloud book and family reading tip sheets to take home and share. The goal has always been to bring awareness to the value of early literacy and reading to young children.
On the heels of COVID, the ELC and Bradenton Kiwanis sought to do more for Manatee County’s young readers!
This year, we created a family learning adventure to coordinate with the unique features of this year’s chosen book. Every participating child will receive the book “Old Manatee A to Z,” an adorable ABC book featuring the history of Manatee County. In addition, every child will also receive a matching coloring book and a set of crayons so they can "recolor" history.
Provided with the featured books is a special Early Learning Passport, created for families to use and share ideas of locations in Manatee County that correlate with each letter in the book.
