School readiness is more than counting 1, 2, 3, singing your ABCs, or identifying colors and shapes. Children who are ready for kindergarten demonstrate independence, are social and relate well to others, can communicate with purpose and understanding, are engaged, and show the development of a love of learning. It is important to understand that no two children are the same and that all children develop these skills at their own pace.
The VPK Family Activities Calendar is designed to help extend classroom learning at home and further develop school readiness skills. All content in the calendar is bilingual in English and Spanish. Beginning with the start of a new school year in August, each calendar month offers engaging activities aligned with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards to help support learning through the end of summer, preparing each child for school success!

- Recommended books to read with your child
